Is Pearl your birth stone? Pearls are an organic gem, created by an oyster. It’s qualities signify modesty and purity. In history, Roman women wore them in their sleep to remind themselves of their wealth. As the birthstone for June, the pearl brings a promise of health and longevity. Pearls have been believed to have a power for good; to bring help in troubled times, to cement friendships and to strengthen weak hearts and memory. Pearls are said to give their wearers the courage to resist and overcome evil, they ease irritability, wards off pestilence and cure blood disorders. Fresh water pearls are given on the 1st wedding anniversary. Pearls are also given on the 3rd, 12th and 30th anniversaries. There are many types of Pearls including Natural Pearls, Cultured Pearls, Freshwater Pearls, Baroque Pearls, Seed Pearls, Black Pearls and Mabe Pearls. Ultrasonic cleaners are not recommended for Pearls.
