My Favorite Books

These are some of my favorite books. They have moved me, made me laugh and transformed my life. These all have a theme in one way or another of empowering you to "Live Your Dream". They each present that from a different point of view.

Enjoy! ---Harry

Read my reviews of all these books, below.
Notes from a Friend by Anthony Robbins
I've listened to and watched hours of Tony Robbins, attended all of his courses including his four part Mastery Program. This book is a distillation of all I have learned in all those courses. The best part is that it is a simple step by step guide for transforming your entire life. And it's about 100 pages, so it's a quick read that you will keep coming back to after you have put into practice what you learned. Because once you actually take "Massive Action" as Tony recommends, you will have a deeper understanding of wht he writes about and you will get even more out of the second, third, fourth etc. reading.

So, if you are already a Tony Robbins fan, get the book. It's a quick and easy refresher for what you have learned. If you don't know much about Tony Robbins, get the book, it's a good introduction and then do as he suggests in it take "Massive Action" and get some of his other books and go to his seminars. "Unleash the Power Within" is the introductory seminar.

Tony tells you in his books and seminars that when you put into practice what he teaches, "Life will never be the same". I can fully attest to that. I am living the life of my dreams. Tony ROCKS! ---Harry

Spark Your Dream by Candelaria and Herman Zapp
When I talked with Herman and Candelaria, I came away with the fact that I was living my dream. I had forgotten that. And I realized that we all live our dreams, for better or worse, heavenly dream or nightmare... and that all we have to do is to remember that if we don't like how our dream is going, we can just rewrite it and start in a new direction.

Their car, a 1928 Graham Paige is a metaphor for whatever it is in your life that moves you toward your dream. In my life it is my business. Sometimes the ride is smooth and sometimes the wheels fall off... but, I find that if I love it and treat it with the same respect that Herman and Cande treat their car, my business, like their car moves me in the direction of my dream.

I have been reading Spark Your Dream for several months, now. I am reading very slowly, savoring every episode, every miracle, every extraordinary act of human kindness in it. Herman, I promised you I would pass the book on to someone else, when I finish it, and I will... I just may take a long time finishing it.

I have purchased about 20 books to give to friends and associates. Everyone whom I have given it to has been moved and amazed at the physical journey and the transformational journey that they are on.

If you buy only one book this year, get this one. You are in for a treat! ---Harry Mason
PS When you finish reading it, pass it on. The joy of reading it is only surpassed by the joy of talking about it with the person you give it to. PPS It is so engaging, that I was reading excerpts to my wife while we were driving and we were laughing so hard and enjoying it so much that we drove 5 miles past our exit. And that made us laugh even harder. Thank you Herman and Cande!

Waiting for Jack by Kristen Moeller
My beautiful wife, Kathryn K Strong and I first met Kristen in the elevator the afternoon before Rick Frishman's and Mark Victor Hansen's Author 101 University. She was dressed more like a Rock Star than an author, so I asked if she was attending the seminar. She said that she was one of the speakers and I said I was looking forward to hearing her.

We met her again in the lobby just prior to the seminar. My wife was at the seminar to learn about how to become a successful author, we took the opportunity to ask Kristen what it takes to become one.

What followed was an intriguing fifteen minute summary of how it came to be that Kristen was now a successful author, speaker and coach overcoming some very severe challenges with addictive behavior to become a voice for young women who are facing the temptations she faced when their age.

What we also learned was how the title "Waiting for Jack", came about from her meeting and corresponding with Jack Canfield, co-author with Mark Victor Hansen of the mega-best selling books "Chicken Soup for the Soul". I won't spoil the surprise of her interactions with him, she writes it much better than I could paraphrase it.

What I got from the conversation and then from reading her book, was... what the hell are any of us waiting for? All of us do that about one thing or another as life passes by. This was particularly poignant for me as I had been waiting since 2007 to take the next steps in getting my book published.

In "Waiting for Jack" Kristen describes how she broke through that by taking what she calls a "fierce disruption of the ordinary!" And her example inspired me to take that "out of the box" type of action the following week, taking my book to the next level, and then having the courage to ask both Jack Canfield and Stewart Emery, in person, to be on my book team!

That was certainly a "fierce disruption of the ordinary!" for me. And more importantly, having taken that step, I know I will never "wait" again.

Are you waiting for something in your life? The perfect relationship, the right job, a call from someone special, the right diet. Read this book and follow her advice and I doubt you will wait any longer. You, too, will embrace a "fierce disruption of the ordinary!" as a new way of embracing life more fully. ---Harry
PS My beautiful wife, Kathryn bought multiple copies of Kristen's "Waiting for Jack" to give as presents to friends. We are looking forward to hearing of their transformation.

Eat Right 4 Your Type by Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo with Catherine Whitney
I had been struggling with Chronic Fatigue and low energy for many years. My sister, who owns a Health Food Store gave me this book and tested my blood type. I am a type O. I started it and stopped for several years, but finally decided to adopt it whole-heartedly.

Wow, what a difference. After about one week, I noticed my energy levels improving. But, here is the part that clinched it for me. I love pizza and ice cream. I used to eat them all the time. The book told me they were bad for me. After being on the program in the book for about two weeks, that little voice in my head told me, "Oh, it won't hurt to have some pizza", so I indulged myself. I felt fine... but... the next day I felt tired. I hadn't felt that way since starting on the program in the book. "OK, coincidence", that little voice said, but I went back on the program and felt better again.

So, a few weeks later, that darn little voice said, "Oh, it won't hurt to have some pizza and besides it was just a coincidence that you were tired he next day." Once again, I indulged myself. Once again, I felt fine right after eating but... once again, the next day, I felt terrible, tired, unmotivated.

In college, I was a Physics major. Science is all about proposing a theorem, testing and observing the result. So, I began testing the things I loved eating, that the book said weren't good for me. Pizza, Ice Cream, Bread, etc. I had the same result. The day after I indulged, I felt terrible.

For about two months, now, I have been not eating the foods the book tells a type O to avoid. And, you know what? I have not been tired or low energy one single day! In fact, I feel better than I have in years. No tiredness, no swollen gut, no low energy. Plus, by eating the foods the book suggests as being best for me, I have made some new food combinations that I like as much as the pizza and ice cream I used to crave. And I no longer crave them.

Just remember to give it about one month of staying on the program before you stray. You will then notice the next day if what you ate, that you shouldn't have eaten, is as bad for you as the book says. Then you can choose. Stay with his program and feel great or go back to your old way of eating and feel terrible.
