Successful women!
Profile of Success : : : Debby Lyttle
Greatest career success: I suppose I would have to say that my greatest career success is balancing my life as a wife and mother with that of a Full-time College Student. I went back to school in my late thirties to work on getting my Teaching Credential. While it is taking me a little longer than the "younger" college student to get my degree I have successfully taken care of my family while earning a 4.0 GPA at San Francisco State University!
My Inspiration: This is an easy one for me to answer! My greatest inspiration is my 93 year old Grandmother, Dorothy Horn. She is the main reason that I found the courage to go back to college as a "middle-aged" adult. She herself went back to school in her Forties and started teaching school at the age of 50. She taught for 20 years before retiring at the age of 70. To this day she works in her garden, plays bridge, takes walks and has a great sense of humor!
My favorite pair of Harry Mason Earspirals: This is a tough one because I love ALL of my Earspirals! If I have to pick just one I would have to say my favorite pair is my convertibles because they are so versatile!
How many pairs of Harry Mason Earspirals I have: Not enough! I have fourteen pairs!
How I make a difference in the world: The biggest way I make a difference in this world is by raising money every year for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Our 14 year old son, Dillon, has had Type I Diabetes since he was 8 years old. Each year since then we have done the Walk to find a Cure with the JDRF. It is our strong belief that some day soon a cure for Diabetes will be found and the millions of people affected by this chronic disease will no longer have to suffer the medical problems that they do. Last year we added a new component to our fund raising by starting a Silent Auction/Raffle dinner. This year the fundraiser is being held on September 28th in Belmont. If anybody is interested in attending they can contact me at
dillonshope@yahoo.com.
My greatest personal achievement: Trying to ensure that my son has a long and healthy life by raising money for research to find a cure for Diabetes. Over the past six years we have raised almost $26,000!
